The keyword for this stunner is 'red'. Red highlights on deep green leaves in spring and in autumn the leaves redden and mature to burgundy, then become absolutely scarlet at first frost. Even the turkey foot seed heads are a burgundy red! This upright, tough native is particularly showy in a fall blooming perennial border.
