Apple Rolls

A pretty dessert for any party.

Syrup: 1-1/2 cups sugar
2 cups water
1/4 cup cinnamon
Dough: 2 cups flour
1/2 tsp. salt
4 tsps. baking powder
1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
2 tsps. sugar
1/2 cup butter
2/3 cup milk
Filling: 3 cups finely chopped apples
1 Tbsp. butter melted
Syrup: Bring all syrup ingredients to a boil and keep hot. Dough: Mix dough together like biscuit dough. Roll out about 1/2" thick. Spread butter over dough, then apples. Roll up like a jelly roll and cut off 1" pieces. Lay pieces down close together in a buttered backing dish. Pour syrup over top of pieces and bake 25 minutes at 375°F.

Serving Information

Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
