I began my career in horticulture as a cashier at a retail garden center in Roanoke, Virginia while in high school. After receiving bachelor’s degrees in Horticulture and Agricultural and Applied Economics from Virginia Tech and a master’s degree in Public Horticulture from the University of Delaware and Longwood Gardens, I endured a brief stint as a development officer at UVA, and landed at Saunders Brothers as a Regional Sales Associate in late 2008. I worked with our Shenandoah Valley and Northern Virginia customers in that capacity until late 2016 when I accepted a promotion to serve as our Chief of Wholesale Sales overseeing the sales of our nursery, produce, and fruit tree products. I am super excited for this challenge and look forward to continuing to build lasting relationships with our employees and our customers.
In my non-working time, I am the proud mama of Magnolia and Crosier, and doting wife of Paul Westervelt (SBI Annual and Perennial Production Manager and plant geek extraordinaire). I love to cook, eat, travel, and garden, and aspire to one day take up running again.
